Lorena's art has gone to the dogs!

When she was young she had two loves. The first was art and the second was animals (or was it the other way around?) At seventeen she went off to New York City with huge dreams. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (with Honors) from Pratt Institute (NY). She also studied at other reputable schools, such as the Art Students League (NY), The School of Visual Arts (NY) and the Brian Shaw School of Art (London).

She spent the next few years in New York City striving to make art with great meaning. We can call that period "the lean years." Next she moved to Newport, RI. There was fresh air! There were cows! She just wanted to paint cows and so she did. It was fun. It was profitable! People like cows!! Soon she had cow posters, cow calendars, cow T-shirts. She moooved (sorry) on to other animals and created a poster series, which was under her name at that time- Steinhauser, published by Arnold Art. Wild Apple Graphics became her second poster publisher.

After painting cows, pigs, ducks and bunnies she decided to paint something she love. She loves Lucy - her dog. She found that dogs afford an endless supply of character studies and a lovely outlet for her peculiar sense of humor.

Now she publishes many of these paintings as limited edition prints (the prints are signed and numbered). She calls her business Purebred Editions. Everything is going great, in fact, many of her prints have won the esteemed Communication Arts Award of Excellence, five years in a row. For four years her paintings have been winners at the Contemporary American Dog Art Competition and four times have received Honorable Mentions from the Society of Illustrators. Most recently her painting "Chocolate Craving" won first place at the prestigious juried show "Art Show at the Dog Show and the other entry "Stay" won the peoples choice award! So her art has "gone to the dogs" and she couldn't be happier!

Music for Your Pets and for You!

The Laurel Canyon Animal Company is dedicated to creating original music about, for and with animals of all species. We are the only record company in the world that regularly uses the services of animal communicators to create music directly with and for animals themselves.

They asked the animals! THIS IS WHAT THEY WANTED!

200 canines were queried as to their preferences in lyrical content and music type. This population represented dogs of both sexes, many ages and varied breeds from geographical locations across the US and Canada. Companion, agility, conformation, obedience, tracking, therapy, and shelter dogs were represented. 125 dogs were asked what they would like to hear in a song. The canines were offered a series of choices. For each response, Dr. Kim sent a mental picture of the choice, along with the thought or words about the choice for each topic. The same picture was provided for each participant. Topics were taken from Kr. Kim's notebooks. These note books provided information for the selections of things dogs often asked for in order for them to be happy or happier.
