Show appreciation in ways as individual as your people.
O.C. Tanner helps companies recognize people who do great work. We’ll work with you to celebrate success in a way that inspires your people to grow. Whether you’re saying “thank you” for a job well done, great service, extra effort, a team success or a great idea, we’ll help you connect actions to results. Each company’s approach to appreciation is carefully crafted, the awards hand-selected. Whether it’s gourmet coffee or spa treatments, GPS systems or exclusive diamond jewelry— we’ll inspire your people to continue to invent, to create, to discover. We’ve developed strong, long-lasting relationships with the world’s best suppliers, so we can provide you with today’s most exclusive symbols of appreciation backed by the best guarantees and warranties in the industry. When Westfield Insurance employee Andy Platz received a Skil palm sander as appreciation for doing great work, he took his enthusiasm for the sander straight to the top. “When I received the sander I called the program administrator and ran the sander over the phone and said, ‘Check this out!’ Then I took the sander down to the gentleman who nominated me for the award and had him autograph it.” When pharmaceutical giant Warner-Lambert wanted every one of their 42,000 employees in 140 locations to open the perfect award at exactly the same time, they asked O.C. Tanner to help make it happen. In one of the largest, single-day recognition efforts ever undertaken at any company, the same speech, same video and same individual presentation of gifts took place in 140 locations around the world. O.C. Tanner managed every aspect of this global effort, right down to changing out the brown calfskin band on the beautiful Seiko watches in leather-sensitive countries. Warner Lambert CEO Mel Goodes wanted more than just a gift to recognize his workforce. He wanted an experience that would truly touch every person in the company, to help each colleague realize that individual effort was a crucial part of the big picture. And he succeeded. Says Helen O’Connor, Sr, who has been with the company for 33 years, “This was personal. This was a presentation to every member of the staff.” Emmie Gardea of El Paso Corporation was recognized by a coworker with a peer-to-peer award. “I had the hardest time choosing what to get. The award was really important to me, so I hung up the thanks™ certificate they printed out for me in my cubicle. But I took some time deciding between all the great awards I had to choose from. I decided on the Howard Miller Corrine Wall Clock. It looks beautiful.” Delivery giant FedEx assures its drivers have a choice of awards when they hit important safety milestones. Courier Christy Wilson likes the positive reinforcement the appreciation creates. “FedEx stresses safety all the time,” says Wilson. “And with the award program, you get things you normally wouldn’t buy yourself. I wouldn’t normally buy a grandfather clock, but if I can get one, I’m definitely going to.” Showing your appreciation to your newest employees early in their careers can have a lasting effect. PepsiAmericas has created a buzz with its welcome and on-boarding awards. “The short-term awards, the welcome and the 90-day, have really made an impact,” says Mike Pulcino, HR Director. “To discover that showing your appreciation for a good start at the company with something as small as a key chain and charm could be in such demand was surprising. But everyone wants one and they are excited when it comes their time to receive it.” Olympian Derek Parra will not soon forget his hard fought symbol of athletic achievement—the 2002 Olympic Winter Games gold medal. Created by O.C. Tanner, the medal became the ultimate symbol of appreciation for the athletes who received it. |
Key Takeaway
Awards become powerful reminders of great experiences. They stand for expectations met. Achievement. Dedication. And they can inspire us to do more for the companies that give them.
